Why does my creative input make references to Jacek Malczewski, to Olga Boznańska, to Stanisław Wyspiański? I describe each of these figures as “total” in the sense of their creative stance and their life choices, and I insert my person into their stories.
The painting triptych “Complex personalities” contains images of Jacek Malczewski, Olga Boznańska and Stanisław Wyspiański. Each of them has been captured in their studio, against the background of a painting being created (Malczewski against Christ from “Doubting Thomas”, Boznańska taking a cigarette break during a painting session, Wyspiański while working on “Treasures of the Sesame”). The photos from archives which I used for motifs in these paintings are among my favourite photos of each figure, the ones that evoke most emotion, that are most memorable, and that I look at most often.
