Urszula Ślusarczyk

Graduate of the Institute of Art Education at UMCS in Lublin (diploma in 1994). Winner of a scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (2000). Organizer of conferences and thematic exhibitions, including “Nature of Nature” (2001, 2003/04).
Author of over 50 solo exhibitions and participant in over 130 group exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including: Douai, France; Salon des Peintres Polonais, Antibes, France; Salon des Peintres Polonais, Paris, France; Clearwater, USA; Kunst-OG Filosoficenter Solvognen, Denmark; 4 Internationales Kunstsymposium, Kleinbreitenbach, Germany; “Terra In-Cognita,” Polish contemporary painters, DW (Deutsche Welle), Bonn, Magdeburg, Berlin; “Libro-Arte/Abierto,” Library of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Barcelona; “Power of Art” (Exhibition of works from the collection of Polish contemporary art of the Lublin Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts), Lviv Palace of Art, Lviv; “Meta Biel” Freies Museum, Berlin; “Simposio e inauguracion de la exposicion Sianoja,” Albacin Palace, Noja, Spain; “INSTANT processi paralleli,” Apartamento storico del Domenichino – Cappella del Tesoro di San Gennaro nel Duomo.
Since 2015, she has participated in International Workshops for Artists Using the “language of geometry” and in post-workshop exhibitions, curated by Dr. Bożena Kowalska. She obtained her doctorate in 2003 at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, where she also obtained her habilitation in 2008. In 2014, she was awarded the title of professor of fine arts.
She currently works as a full professor at the Institute of Visual Arts at Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. She also collaborates with the WIT Academy in Warsaw. Her output includes painting, drawing, and photography.
Urszula Ślusarczyk’s work, consistently monochromatic, is situated within the current of geometric abstraction. The point of departure as well as the area of her creative exploration and its resolutions are constituted by nature and culture. However, constant attempts to transcend what is utilitarian, tangible, and accidental situate these abstract and silent images as if beyond time. Their internal space listens to the language of axiological depth and opens up to universal values and meanings – communicates the artist.
